Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) achieved the best time in Q1, the first phase of the qualifying session, at Silverstone, in 1:30??841. He beat Mark Webber (Red Bull, 1:30:858).
Among the seven drivers eliminated, we find the drivers of the three new teams (Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli for Lotus, Timo Glock and Lucas di Grassi for Virgin, Karun Chandhok and Sakon Yamamoto for HRT) as well as Jaime Alguersuari (Toro Rosso).
