FIA ETCR: Tambay can believe it

Adrien Tambay (EKS Cupra) is at the head of his group (FURIOUS Pool for the Frenchman) after winning the two qualifying heats in the morning. 

Adrien, who discovers the Sachsenring route, once again seems to have shown adaptation. Best time in free practice (1'29.301) ahead of Norbert Michelisz (Hyundai Motorsport) and Mikel Azcona (Hyundai Motorsport). In qualifying rounds 1 and 2, the Ile-de-France native did it again, beating Azcona and Michelisz in the first, then the Hungarian and Bruno Spengler (Romeo Ferraris) in the next. Azcona lost big by being disqualified from this round after a decision by the stewards (the bodywork of his Hyundai Veloster ETCR being non-compliant, editor's note). The Spaniard will start in the second quarter-final which should cause him to lose quite a few points compared to the duo Tambay/Ekström (EKS Cupra). In the FAST group, the Swede second in the championship remains in the race but seems less comfortable than Tambay. He will have to be counted on since he will start alongside his teammate Tom Blomqvist, pole sitter, in his quarter-final.
