Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing) took pole on the Texas oval by setting a new lap record in 27. The pilot of the Toyota No. 18, who won again in Nationwide for the fourth time this season, stole first place on the grid from his brother Kurt Busch who continues to impress in his Furniture Row Chevrolet. Aric Almirola and Marcos Ambrose (Richard Petty Motorsports) follow on the second row ahead of Martin Truex Jr (Michael Waltrip Racing). The Hendrick drivers are at the front with Dale Earnhardt 6th ahead of leader Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. Defending champion Brad Keselowski (Penske) will start from 16th place.
