TCR World Ranking Final postponed

The world ranking final TCR (TCR World Ranking Final), which was initially scheduled to take place in March 2024, is set to change date, while still being recognized by an FIA title. The change of date was motivated by the need to avoid organizing two finals in the same year in an already full calendar.

With the WSC and FIA working together this year to promote the new Kumho FIA TCR World Tour, which begins at Vallelunga in April, it was decided to move the event, in order to avoid an excess of annual touring car competitions in 2024, the third edition of the FIA Motorsport Games also taking place in Valencia in October.

The event will be entirely dedicated to customer drivers across the TCR pyramid, with registration only open to competitors in the 2024 TCR regional and national series.

Additionally, all drivers who had already registered for the Portimão event will receive automatic registration for the new date.

The new venue and date – in the final third of the year – will be confirmed shortly, and the winners will be invited to celebrate their success at the FIA Awards Gala in December.

TCR President Marcello Lotti said: “We made the decision to move the date based on a series of logical factors. When it became clear that we were going to host two World Finals in the same year, we had to think about how best to resolve this problem, both from a sporting point of view and for our competitors, and moving the event is for us the most logical solution.

With the FIA Motorsport Games also taking place this year, having three major annual touring car events doesn't make sense, and we can now focus on hosting our first TCR finale, which will now come with an FIA title. I would like to thank the Portuguese ASN and the Autódromo do Algarve for their support and for understanding our decision. »
