The Hyundai look much healthier this Saturday. Thierry Neuville set the first scratch time for the Korean brand at Safari Rally Kenya. The Belgian finished the Elementaita special (15,08 km) in 8'37″0, just 9 tenths ahead of Sébastien Loeb, also in good shape for his return to the rally Kenyan.
The fight for first place and the overall podium continues to rage. Kalle Rovanperä (6th, +5″3) is still leading the race, 10 seconds ahead of Elfyn Evans (5th, +4″2). Takamoto Katsuta took a small second from the Welshman but saw his 3rd place threatened by the return ofOtt Tänak, who set the 3rd fastest time of SS9, 1″7 behind Neuville.
Gus Greensmith took part in the special despite a badly damaged Ford and no windshield. Unsurprisingly, the pilot M-Sport finally decided to retire after SS9. Adrien fourmaux did not start the stage and also gave up.
