While he had taken the head of Rally from Mexico, Kris Meeke (Toyota) lost more than a minute due to a rear-right puncture in the Otates special, SS11 being the longest of the Rally Mexico at 32,37km.

Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) was ahead by a little more than 3 seconds Ott Tänak (Toyota) by finishing one second behind the scratch of Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) who chose to start behind to benefit from a better position on the road, the Finn being in Rally 2. The Frenchman was especially ahead of his new direct rival Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) of 11 seconds. Thierry Neuville and Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) are further away.

Sébastien Ogier took back the lead of the Rally Mexico with a 15s lead over Elfyn Evans, but the six-time champion WRC is now running without a spare wheel following his puncture in SS10. Ott Tänak completes the provisional podium ahead of Thierry Neuville and Kris Meeke who is more than 19 seconds behind the Belgian.
