You would have thought Elfyn Evans (Toyota) stunned after the blow delivered by Sébastien Ogier (Toyota) in the opening special of the Rally of Monza 2021. The Welshman recovered perfectly and managed to make up a gap of 2″ over 5 km at the end of the course. A real performance because the special took place on a pass at an altitude of 1 meters and included two sections with fog.
The Frenchman only concedes a tenth and remains in the lead of the Rally. Behind, the gaps are already widening. Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) is rejected at 16″8 and rides together with his teammate Dani Sordo. Sixth place is occupied by Adrien fourmaux (Ford), despite a choice of soft tires that was not very inspired by the Northerner's own admission.
