Sébastien Loeb (Hyundai) took advantage of his slick tires to take the scratch in SS7 of Rally Monte-Carlo between Roussieux and Laborel. With a time of 14'26''6 to complete the 24km, the Alsatian regained 9 seconds on the lead of the race led by Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) even if it's Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) which was the closest with a little more than 4 seconds delay.
Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) followed around twenty seconds ahead Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) who lost around fifteen seconds to Ogier. Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) followed just under half a minute behind, ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota).
The Toyotas suffered in this special. Ott Tänak and Kris Meeke had to stop to change a wheel, the cuts in the corners being very aggressive on the tires, and lost several minutes each. Northern Irishman loses cash on his Yaris WRC.
Sébastien Ogier takes the lead of the Monte-Carlo Rally with 14 seconds ahead of Thierry Neuville. Sébastien Loeb gained 4 places and moved up to 3rd place with a lead of 4 seconds over Andreas Mikkelsen, but the nine-time WRC champion was more than a minute behind the leader of the race. Jari-Matti Latvala is now almost 8 seconds behind the Norwegian. Elfyn Evans took advantage of the competition's worries to gain two places and find herself in 6th place ahead of Ott Tänak and Kris Meeke.
Yoann Bonato (Citroën) occupies 9th place while remaining at the head of WRC 2. Adrien fourmaux (Ford) is 11th between Gus Greensmith (Ford) and Guillaume de Mevius (Citroën) back at 3 tenths.
The retirements of Esapekka Lappi (Citroën) and Pontus Tidemand (M-Sport) have been confirmed, both drivers having broken their suspension.
