Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) signed the scratch in the 37,55km of Amarante, the 17th special of the Rally from Portugal, with a time of 24'33''8. The Belgian regained 6”2 from the leader Sébastien Ogier (Ford). Ott Tänak (Ford) followed at around ten seconds just ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota), Kris Meeke (Citroën), Dani Sordo (Hyundai), Juho Hänninen (Toyota), Elfyn Evans (Ford) and Mads Ostberg (Ford). Craig Breen (Citroën) failed more than half a minute after suffering with his tires.

Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) lost around 5 minutes after damaging his Yaris WRC hitting a wall.

Sébastien Ogier retains the lead of the Rally of Portugal with a 16'' lead over Thierry Neuville. Dani Sordo remains on the provisional podium ahead of Ott Tänak who took 8th place from Craig Breen by less than 4 seconds. Elfyn Evans remains 3th ahead of WRC 6 leader Juho Hänninen, Mads Ostberg, Jari-Matti Latvala and Andreas Mikkelsen, who all gained a place following Esapekka Lappi's problem.
