Dani Sordo loses his podium in Mexico

Dani Sordo received a two-minute penalty after the Rally from Mexico. The Spaniard pays for his team's mistake for using 29 tires instead of the 28 authorized. The pilot Hyundai put on three new tires instead of two before competing in the Power Stage.

By penalizing the Hispanic driver with this time, the commissioners allowed Mads Ostberg to climb onto the podium with a 1” lead.

“This is due to a communication error. They put on three new tires and two worn tires, instead of three worn ones and two new ones”, commented Alain Pernasse, Team Manager of Hyundai Motorsport. “This means that there was one tire too much used according to the regulations. We will analyze the problem in Alzenau. It is certain that this does not detract from the performance of the two crews and the team on this rally. »
