Loeb replaced by Breen in Sweden

While the organization of Rally from Sweden still remains uncertain with current unfavorable weather conditions, with a lack of snow and ice, Hyundai Motorsport has decided to modify its lines for the Scandinavian event scheduled for mid-February.

On the next day of a historic victory for the brand at the Monte-Carlo Rally with Thierry Neuville, the structure led by Andrea Adamo indicated that Sébastien Loeb will be replaced by the Irish Craig Breen.

Author of a Monte-Carl' disappointing last weekend (6th), the winner of the 2004 Swedish Rally with Citroën was initially announced on the test counting for its partial program of six races.

Hyundai will finally trust Breen, author of two outings with the i20 Coupe WRC last year (7th in Finland and 8th in Great Britain), in a race where he took 2nd place in 2018 with Citroën.

“We have made the decision to add Craig Breen to our line-up for Rally Sweden alongside Thierry (Neuville) and Ott (Thank you) in order to offer the most competitive package possible for the rally with the best options available for the road position. » explains Andrea Adamo.

Hyundai also announced that it had canceled an upcoming test session in the region due to the mild weather, and has scheduled runs from February 5 to 7. A situation similar to Toyota Gazoo Racing, Tommi Mäkinen, Team Principal of the Japanese team, confirmed this to us yesterday at the finish of the Monte-Carlo Rally.

As for the future of Rally Sweden, the FIA is expected to decide at the beginning of February whether the conditions are right to contest the race.
