Toyotas disqualified at the 6h of Silverstone

While Toyota celebrated its 3rd consecutive double of the season with the victory of the TS050 Hybrid n°8 of Buemi-Alonso-Nakajima ahead of n°7 Conway-Kobayashi-Lopez, the two hybrid LMP1s were excluded from the 6 Hours of Silverstone, leaving the victory to Rebellion Racing who won a double on the carpet with the No. 13 Rebellion R3 of Beche-Laurent-Menezes victorious with a lap ahead of Jani-Lotterer's n°1.

The commissioners of WEC determined that the wooden pads were not flexible enough according to the technical regulations imposed on the two Toyota TS050 Hybrid. The Japanese manufacturer defended itself by indicating that this result must have been due to a brief off-track which damaged this part of its cars, but the stewards determined that the design must be able to respect the rules in a race of 6 hours.
