His participation in Toyota Racing Series last year deprived him of rookie status during the last Formula campaign Renault Eurocup. But among the young drivers who discovered the series promoted by the Losange in 2020, Franco Colapinto was the most impressive.
Third in the championship, author of two victories and nine podiums, the Argentinian was only beaten by Victor Martins and Caio Collet, two very fast drivers who were in their third and second years. In 2021, there will no longer be Formula Renault but the MP Motorsport driver will continue the adventure with the Dutch structure in the brand new championship of the category, the Formula Regionale by Alpine.
These guys aren't leaving the family any time soon @FranColapinto will be with us for another year and fight for the FRECA championship, and @OliverGoethe is being promoted from Spanish F4 to FRECA #MPfamily #FRECA pic.twitter.com/7Soa8CFGQR

He will be one of the big favorites and will have the opportunity to show it on Wednesday, during the first day of the pre-season tests played in Imola. As a reminder, Franco Colapinto (17 years old) was crowned F4 Spain champion in 2019, and brilliantly discovered theEndurance this winter during the Asian Le Mans Series. He was notably elected “rookie of the year” after his notable debut in Dubai and Abu Dhabi with G-Drive in LMP2.
MP Motorsport has also confirmed the appointment of Dane Oliver Goethe alongside it. The young man (16 years old) finished 5th in the Spanish F4 championship last year. Note that there is still a seat available at MP Motorsport in FRECA, and even a second in the event that the Batavian team decides to enter a young woman in the championship.
