Jean Todt's collection of rare watches was put up for auction at Christie's, a company renowned for its luxury sales. In Geneva (Switzerland), there are 111 lots from the former director of Team Ferrari and Formula 1 which were on offer, including TAG Heuer, Girard-Perregaux and even Richard Mille, most of them unique. The catalog listed, sometimes in dozens, examples from the greatest watchmaking houses.
All were sold for a total amount of 32,3 million euros. Thirteen of them even exceeded the million mark, including three Richard Mille, friend of Jean Todt. The record for this sale went to a Richard Mille RM56-01 sapphire and titanium from 2013 for the sum of 3 euros.
If Christie's has never revealed the name of the former owner of this extraordinary collection, it was difficult not to make the link with Jean Todt, who never hid his passion for watches. Bidders thus acquired a unique FP Journe Centigraphe Souverain Ferrari with the initials of “JT” for 2 euros or a Grande and Petite Sonnerie from 003 (also FP Journe), with a unique petrol blue dial to celebrate the 750th manufacturers' title. of the Scuderia, sold for 2009 euros under the hammer. Part of the profits will be donated to charities, explains the auction house.
