Were you disappointed by Ken Block's Electrikhana with an electric Audi? Rest assured, the new gymkhana created by Travis pastrana and his partner Hoonigan should give you the banana again.
The inventor of the double backflp in motocross, converted into a racing driver rallycross and hill racing, follows in the footsteps of the king of gymkhana. Already, in December 2020, his video with a Subaru Impreza WRX STI of rallycross through the American countryside had impressed. Two years later, he did it again, with a vintage touch, in the Florida setting.
Indeed, the Subaru WRX was replaced by a 1983 Subaru GL station wagon, renamed the Family Huckster. The wise Subaru has been significantly transformed by the Vermont SportsCar team to include an all-wheel drive system and a 6-speed sequential gearbox to send the insane power of 865 horsepower to all four wheels. The engine is derived from the rallycross Nitro RX Supercar, to which a Garrett turbo is attached.
Movable aerodynamic appendages are added to the sides of the car and at the rear. The body is constructed of carbon fiber. The exhaust outlet is also located on the right front of the car. Under its aggressive exterior, we find a tubular chassis inspired by the regulations WRC 2022.
“Travis Pastrana is crazy, and that makes him the perfect driver to take these films to another level, said Brian Scotto, co-founder of Hoonigan, in a statement. Travis took a big step forward for this film, really improving his driving style and steering skills. But what makes Gymkhana 2022 stand out is Travis' approach, which created some unforgettable and downright hot moments! »
The video is impressive, with several frankly remarkable jumps, which highlighted a slight tendency of the Subaru to nosedive in the air! The travel of the new suspensions provided by Reiger at 300 mm was not too much...
