In 2021, during the Festival of Speed hill climb Goodwood (England), victory went to the McLaren by Rob Bell, but the prize of the show was awarded to the extravagant Travis Pastrana. The American, with a gymkhana Subaru Impreza, had visited the well-trimmed lawn of the Richmond doc's estate without shocking the English public!

A year later, the former freestyle motocross enthusiast set his sights on a Subaru that was a bit older, only in appearance. The GL Wagon is a cushy station wagon from the 1980s, quite popular in the United States. But the restomod from the workshops of Subaru Motorsports USA and Hoonigan is not a family car!

The original engine, a flat-4 boxer typical of the Japanese brand, has been, as you can imagine, profoundly modified. The basic version only had 53 horsepower, whereas “The Family Huckster” produced 862 horsepower!

Faithful to the Hoonigan style, the Subaru is adorned with various aerodynamic appendages and colorful decoration. The ailerons rise when the pilot presses the brake pedal.

“The GL Wagon is an iconic Subaru that I thought would be pretty awesome to see flying through the air. Surprisingly, the Family Huckster is much smaller than the Airslayer (the nickname given to the 2021 WRX STI. Editor’s note) Combine that with the square shape and you have a perfect recipe for precision riding. An active rear wing using a hydropneumatic cylinder is useful, to a certain extent.

The Family Huckster is without a doubt my favorite car to drive. I can't wait to show the world at Goodwood and later this year in the upcoming film Gymkhana. »
