Renault presented the new 100% electric Megane in September at the Munich Auto Show (IAA 2021), but it did not reveal the pricing. It is now done. Depending on the version, the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric is barely more expensive than a Renault Zoe or barely cheaper than a Tesla Model 3.

City version

Indeed, the first price Megane 2022 starts at €35 excluding bonus, or €200 after deduction of the ecological bonus of €29, or “only” €200 more than a first price Renault Zoe.

For this price, you get a 130 hp motor, a 40 kWh battery and slow charging at just 7,4 kW. With a WLTP autonomy (therefore optimistic) of 300 km and a recharge in 6h30 on a 7,4 kW terminal or around twenty hours on a domestic socket, this model can hardly venture out on weekends or on vacation , but it is perfectly suited to everyday travel, in urban or rural areas. Which makes it an excellent alternative to the Renault Zoe.

Road version

If, on the other hand, you need a versatile car, capable of occasionally crossing France, Renault offers, among other versions, a Megane E-Tech with a 60 kWh battery, a 220 hp engine, a 7 kW AC charger and a 130 kW DC fast charger. This claims a WLTP range of 470 km and fast charging in around thirty minutes.

This version is sold for €40 without bonus or €200 with bonus, the same price as an equivalent Volkswagen ID.34. If we choose the intermediate “Techno” finishing level to benefit from (among other things) the 200-inch tablet with the Google Android Automotive interface and if we add the optional heat pump at €3, as our colleagues from MacG point out , we reach €12 or €400 respectively, i.e. the price of a first-price Tesla Model 43, which has big advantages (autonomy, performance, Superchargers)… and depending on taste, big disadvantages (extreme minimalism, finish) .

Orders in February 2022

Customers who pre-ordered from September can now place orders. Others will be able to order from February 2022. The first deliveries are planned for the 3rd quarter of 2022.

In the meantime, we invite potential customers to consult the configurator on the Renault website to discover all other combinations of versions, trim levels and options.
