This is a trend that has been gaining momentum in recent years among SUVs. Inaugurated by the BMW First at Mercedes (GLE then GLC), then at Audi (Q3 and Q5 Sportback) until Renault (Arkana). The trend is even arriving in electric models, notably at Audi where the Q4 e-tron already exists in a Sportback version. And Volkswagen's cousins are doing the same: after the launch of the ID.4 family SUV, marketed since 2020, the Wolfsburg brand is launching the ID.5 which uses the chassis, engines and interior.
The latter simply displays a different profile, with a “fastback” style rear part evoking with more or less success, as on all models of the same type, the style of a real coupe. Count on a base price of €51 with a 540 kWh battery and a 77 horsepower motor, allowing a theoretical maximum range of 174 km. The 513 horsepower version costs €204 and the top-of-the-range 53 horsepower GTX costs €050. Too expensive to benefit from the €299 ecological bonus, but just below the limit to be entitled to a €57 bonus.
Let us also remember that its cousin from Skoda, the Enyaq, will also receive a “coupe” version in a few weeks.
