Aston Martin launches the Vantage F1 Edition

Aston Martin intends to show to anyone who will listen that it is actively present in Formula 1. In addition to its return as a team with Lance stroll et Sebastian Vettel in 2021, the British manufacturer will provide the safety car and the medical vehicle with the Vantage and the DBX, but also a limited version of its coupe.

Called Vantage F1 Edition, the model will only be delivered from next May at a price of 162 euros (German price, the French price is still unknown), but we already know all its characteristics. The engine, a 000-liter twin-turbo V8, won 25 horses to reach the tidy sum of 535 horsepower. Power is channeled through a modified automatic transmission for smoother gear changes.

The chassis has been reworked, particularly in terms of suspension and steering, for a better driving feeling. Grip also improves thanks to new 21-inch low-profile Pirelli tires, compared to 20 for the basic version, without forgetting an aerodynamic kit (rear spoiler, front fins).

Aston Martin CEO Tobias Moers said: “Performance is at the heart of every Aston Martin, but when it wears an F1 badge it must be a truly exceptional car. The Vantage was already the most focused sports car in our range but in the development of our official Formula 1 safety car it had to be a real athlete: more powerful, more agile, more immediate and more exciting to drive.

And – of course – faster and more efficient. I set a difficult goal for the engineering team, because I insisted that performance gains came through real improvements to the mechanics of the car, not through the fitting of tires optimized for track. The results speak for themselves. A Vantage to please the most demanding drivers and a new model that marks an exciting moment in Aston Martin’s history.”
