Coronavirus – The 2020 Paris Motor Show is canceled

The Coronavirus is hitting the automotive industry hard. In addition to factories closed for several weeks, there are a series of cancellations of trade shows, real showcases for manufacturers. After Geneva (Switzerland) and Detroit (Michigan), it is the turn of the Paris Motor Show to cancel its 2020 edition.

The big meeting located at the Porte de Versailles in Paris was to take place from October 1 to 11. “The automotive sector, hit hard by the economic shock wave, survival is at stake today », explains the organizers in a press release.

“Nothing will be the same as before, and this crisis must teach us to be agile, creative and more innovative than ever. » If the traditional show, where brands exhibit and sell their models to the public, is canceled, this is not the case for peripheral installations.

« The Movin'On games (ecosystem in favor of sustainable mobility), Smart City and off-site events are not, for the moment, called into question. »

Inaugurated in 1898 under the name of the “International Automobile Exhibition” at the Jardin des Tuileries in the capital, the gathering only experienced two periods of cancellations, during the two world conflicts (1914-18 and 1939-45) .

The 2018 vintage allowed 1 visitors to admire the latest new products on two and four wheels.
