It's impossible to talk about Lamborghini without really thinking about the Countach. Brought into the world half a century ago now, the Sant'Agata Bolognese racing car left its mark on a whole generation still nostalgic for this type of machine.

Produced in just over 2000 examples, the Countach quickly won over the general public with its lines but also with its V12 and its different versions ranging from 375 to almost 500 horsepower.

Fifty years later, it is back on the roads but with a more modern look while still retaining some period features. Lamborghini has indeed lifted the veil on the Countach LPI 800-4, a model designed to commemorate the birth of the successor to the legendary Miura.

« The Countach LPI 800-4 is a visionary car of the moment, just like its predecessor was, explains Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. One of the automotive industry's most important icons, the Countach not only embodies Lamborghini's design and engineering principles, but also represents our philosophy of reinventing boundaries, achieving the unexpected and extraordinary and, more importantly, to be “the stuff of dreams”. The Countach LPI 800-4 pays homage to that Lamborghini heritage, but it's not nostalgic: it imagines how the iconic Countach of the 1970s and '1980s might have evolved into an elite supersport model of that decade ».

Under the hood, the new Countach remains faithful to its big sister from the 70s/80s. Small difference however, the naturally aspirated V12 integrates Lamborghini's supercapacitor hybrid technology but retains " the inimitable V12 experience and sound of its longitudinally rear-mounted powertrain » according to the manufacturer.

Coupled with the 48 V (34 hp) electric motor, the V12 of the new Taurus creation develops 814 horsepower allowing it to reach a top speed of 355 km/h. Lamborghini also mentions a 0 to 100 km/h in 2“8 and a 0 to 200 km/h in 8“6.

Lamborghini will produce 112 Countach LPI 800-4s with deliveries starting from the first quarter of 2022.
