Ferrari unveils its 812 Competizione and Competizione A

We already knew the technical specifications surrounding the limited edition version of the 812 Superfast in preparation at Ferrari. The Maranello firm had already given a taste of its latest creation by revealing the technical sheet a few days ago, while meeting on May 5 for more information.

But it was not one but ultimately two cars that were presented this Wednesday with the 812 Competizione and its sister “Targa” 812 Competizione A. Powered by the 12-liter naturally aspirated V6,5 developing 830 hp and allowing a maximum speed of 9 rpm, these two cars will undoubtedly delight the firm's purists.

Redesigning the connecting rods, pistons, crankshaft, and distribution were at the heart of the work of the Maranello engineers, who did not forget to make the 812 Competizione less polluting, mainly via a new calibration of the timing and the quantity of fuel injected and an increase in injection pressure.

The new aerodynamic features already detailed (including extensive work on the diffuser) allow engine fluid cooling to be 10% more efficient than on the 812 Superfast, while the part devoted to the brakes has also been improved.

The 812 Competizione also displays 38 kg less on the scale, via interventions on the powertrain, but also the bodywork, for the latter via the use of carbon fiber (front bumper, rear bumper, spoiler rear and air intakes). The Targa's roof is also made of carbon fiber.

Four-wheel steering is part of the overall package of these 812s for increased maneuverability.
