Ferrari launches two convertibles with V12 and V8 engines

Ferrari must surely think that the upcoming arrival of fall is the appropriate time to unveil not one, but two convertible models. This is what the manufacturer Maranello (Italy) did in any case on September 9, announcing the F8 Tributo Spider and the 812 GTS.

For V8 fans, the choice will be the F8 Spider, a hair-in-the-wind version of the F8 Tributo (itself the successor to the F488). It is therefore completely logical to find the same bodywork and the same mechanics under the rear hood: a twin-turbo unit delivering a whopping 720 horsepower.

The beauty is 70 kg heavier than the coupe at 1 kg, but performance will remain top-notch: 400''2 to go from 9 to 0 km/h, the same time as the coupe. And if the yellow tint is not to your taste, you can change it, of course.

More sober, but also more sonorous, the 812 GTS revives a legendary formula. It has in fact been 50 years since the GTS (Gran Turismo Scoperta) badge was last used for a V12 mounted on the front of a “large” production Ferrari. Its ancestor is in fact the Daytona Spider, officially known as the 365 GTS4.

Taking up the design and architecture of the 812 Superfast, the 812 GTS develops 800 horsepower for a weight of 1 kg. But it will not be necessary to hit high revs (over 600 rpm) to have good recovery, with 8% of the torque available at only 000 rpm.

Finally, the only downside of these models is that we do not yet know their price. But plan for some savings, you never know…
