The Elva, a breathtaking and historic supercar for McLaren

Elva, here is a name that may not mean anything to you, but which is of major importance to McLaren. The Woking (Great Britain) firm unveiled its new supercar in the SpeedSeries line on Wednesday, November 13, a convertible without a windshield worthy of the style exercise.

The convertible is powered by a powerful 8-horsepower twin-turbo V815 in the center-rear position. Unfortunately, McLaren refused to reveal its weight and maximum speed. We can barely know that 0 to 100 km/h is reached in less than three seconds and that the 200 km/h mark is achieved in 6″7.

The McLaren Elva is a celebration of the McLaren Elva M1A, M1B and M1C, two boats built by the specialist tuner Elva in the 1960s. The M1A was a real lightweight with only 551 kg on the scale and a big 8 V4,5 .340 liters delivering XNUMX horsepower.

The prototype would then race across the Atlantic, in the Can-Am championship. Pilot boss Bruce McLaren was responsible for designing the M1A. Fun fact: the name “Elva” was chosen for its French meaning, synonymous with speed (“She goes”)!

The best thing about all of this is that 399 units will be produced… still costing more than 1,7 million euros (VAT included, phew)! Deliveries will take place at the end of 2020.
