The Ford GT seen in 24 Hours of Le Mans between 2016 and 2019 seemed a little sluggish to you? The American manufacturer and its partner Multimatic have rolled up their sleeves, and are offering you a version exclusively reserved for the track, called “Mk II”. The reference to the winning version of the Sarthe classic in 1964 is obvious.
The car, presented Thursday July 4 as part of the Festival of Speed in Goodwood (Great Britain), is distinguished from its big sister by a reworked bodywork. The rear wing is wider, while the front blade and diffuser are modified. Compared to the series version, the Mk II offers 400 times more aerodynamic downforce!
The 3.5 liter EcoBoost engine, exempt from Balance of Performance (BoP) in GTE Pro, reaches the nice sum of 700 horsepower. “The MkII answers a common question: 'how far can the Ford GT go without all these limitations?' » », explains Larry Holt, technical manager at Multimatic.
To avoid overheating, an air intake was added to the roof, as well as an innovative sprayed water cooling system. Ford Performance promises extremely agile dynamic behavior thanks in particular to the elimination of electronic ground clearance. This is equivalent to a gain of 90 kg.
