The Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR sets a new record at the Nürburgring

After Kevin Estre and his record established with the 911 GT3 RS earlier in the year, Porsche did not stop there in his quest for records at the Nürburgring. Its reference pilot and engineer lars kern "slammed" a time at the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR, prepared by Manthey Racing, in 6'40"3, the absolute best lap for a car approved for the road.

The car has also been specially tuned to tackle the more than 20 km of the terrible Nordschleife. Only Lars Kern's seat differs from this MR version which can already be ordered from Porsche.

“The balance of the car is very good with the new package, comments Kern. I didn't have to take any big risks to be fast. But I only made one attempt because night was already falling. It worked the first time. » The lap was carried out on an obviously dry track, despite autumnal conditions in Germany.

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS develops 700 hp, for maximum torque reaching 750 Nm, and a total mass of 1470 kg. It is this same car which served as the basis to the development of the 935, presented during the summer at Laguna Seca by Porsche.
