Lamborghini presents the Essenza SCV12 and its 830 horsepower engine

We told you about it at the start of summer, but the hypercar was then adorned with a camouflage livery. This time, it was revealed in its official colors and significantly changed its name.

From now on, we will have to call this beastly Lamborghini the Essenza SCV12, and not simply the SCV12 (that sounds less Italian). “It represents the purest track experience our brand can offer, summarized Stefano Domenicali, the boss of Lamborghini.

Lamborghini is a manufacturer that constantly looks to the future and new challenges, but we do not forget our roots and what we are. The Essenza SCV12 is the perfect synthesis of our unconventional spirit and our real passion for motorsport. »

It is therefore not surprising to see under the rear hood a magnificent atmo V12 of… 830 horsepower! “The Essenza SCV12 is the ultimate expression of the atmospheric V12 block, the symbol of our firm since 1963, confirms Maurizio Reggiani, the technical manager of the Italian brand.

We have combined extreme aerodynamic research, futuristic design and innovative solutions like the carbon monocoque without rollover bar. The result is an uncompromising car, born for track racing. »

The hypercar has a racing feel, with a six-speed gearbox developed from the Super Trofeo Evo version. The monocoque chassis is made of carbon fiber, enough to save precious kilos. Another competition derivative, push-rod suspensions are housed on the gearbox.

Visually, we are dealing with the Lamborghini style, very aggressive. The aerodynamics are, according to the press release, more efficient than a Huracan GT3 and offer better downforce. A large, double-stage rear wing can be adjusted.

The transalpine manufacturer Pirelli was associated with the project, and supplies new slick tires mounted on 19-inch magnesium rims at the front and 20-inch at the rear. Fortunately, it will be impossible to damage them by rubbing on a sidewalk, for the simple reason that the SCV12 will not be approved for the road.

In fact, only the circuits will be able to welcome the few dozen SCV12s from this summer, during exclusive driving courses. The five-time winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans Emanuele Pirro will serve as elite teacher.
