The Bloodhound LSR project in serious danger due to lack of funds

Money is the sinews of war. This adage as old as time is lived this winter by the team of the Bloodhound Land Speed Record (LSR). The rolling rocket speed record project may not come to fruition as the attempt is planned for 2021 in South Africa.

The clock is ticking and the level of funding necessary to continue the project must be reached at the end of March 2020. There are therefore only a few weeks left for the British to reach their goal of 8 million pounds (more than 9 million euros).

Time is running out recognizes Ian Warhurst, the manager of this company. “These are necessary investments in order to follow our initial program and modify the rocket in time for 2021. If we miss our planned use window in July and August, the higher temperatures will make the test impossible.

This project has demonstrated its viability in the past (notably by reaching 1 km/h in November 010. Editor’s note). It will be devastating to finish at this point when we are so close to the goal. We remain optimistic but we are running out of time. »
