Bloodhound LSR project halted by coronavirus

The British Bloodhound Project's world speed record attempt will almost certainly not be achieved in 2021. The company already struggling financially lack of partners at a time when the crisis linked to the coronavirus epidemic hits the planet.

“The world has more important things to worry about right now, recognized Ian Warhurst, CEO of Bloodhound, quoted by Business Day. Discussions with established brands were promising when Covid-19 hit, but the financing industry literally shut its doors. This affects our ability to raise the necessary funds on time and the plan to conduct the LSR for 2021 will be very difficult to achieve. »

“We therefore preferred to put the project on hold to reduce costs to the strict minimum necessary and we will resume discussions with potential partners later in the year », added the CEO of Bloodhound LSR.

The attempt is to take place in Kyalami in South Africa. The team had already reached a speed of 1010km/h last November. The world record was set in 1997 by Thurst TTC who reached a speed of 1227km/h.
