PSA Motorsport employees mobilize against the coronavirus

The concern of motorsport is not limited to going in circles on a circuit to see who is the fastest. During this hectic period represented by the fight against Covid-19, those involved in the competition are mobilizing for other health events.

While the actors of the Formula 1 came together to launch Project Pitlane and manufacture respirators, Groupe PSA also joined the fight against coronavirus.

The French Group, whose vehicle production activities are logically put on hold during confinement, participates in a group of French industrialists including Air Liquide, Schneider Electric and Valeo.

Groupe PSA provides its support in several ways. First of all, their engineers have been mobilizing since March 22 to develop a plan to increase the manufacturing rate of Air Liquide Medical Systems respirators and to reach the number of 10 respirators for hospitals by mid-May.

In addition, a group of around fifty volunteer employees was formed within the PSA factory in Poissy with the aim of producing the central parts of the respirators, and thus increasing the production potential of the devices. The objective is to reach the production of 300 pieces per day. The elements are then delivered to the company Air Liquide which finalizes the assembly of the product.

Furthermore, a “ PSA reserve » was set up on a voluntary basis. This includes half of the staff from PSA Motorsport, the entity bringing together the activities of Citroën Racing and Peugeot Sport en rally and on circuit and DS Performance in Formula E.

These volunteers, from various positions (engineers, mechanics, experts, etc.), are currently lending a hand to employees of the Air Liquide Antony factory to help with the final assembly of the respirators. Concrete proof of the commitment of French motorsport stakeholders in the fight against Covid-19.
