Highlights of the Artcurial sale at Rétromobile

The major event of the Rétromobile 2019 show, organized at the Porte de Versailles in Paris until Sunday February 10, was the Artcurial auction. Held on Friday February 8, it allowed 150 classic cars to find buyers, sometimes at crazy prices.

The highlight of the sale was theAlfa Romeo 8C 2900 B Touring Berlinetta, sold to 14,5 million to a private American collector. This one did a relative deal, since the experts estimated a purchase price between 16 and 22 million euros. With costs, the check still amounts to 16 euros.

The Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B Touring Berlinetta is an exceptional piece. The Touring bodybuilder has refurbished only five Alfa Romeo 8Cs classic in the late 1930s, including this example. It is a variation of the eponymous racing model, with an eight-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 2,9 liters, delivering a power of 180 horsepower.

Another rare model (75 examples) and rebodied, the Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss Edition on an SLR basis McLaren left to 2 euros. At this price, you will not have a windshield or a roof, but a large naturally aspirated V8 engine with 650 horsepower and 350 km/h maximum speed.

Among the other sports prizes, let us point out a Lancia Delta Integrale EVO 1 sold for a modest 73 euros. The dent on the engine cover and the widened tracks are starting to get expensive.

If the last generation of GT3 is too expensive for you, the first generation from the mid-2000s tends to go downhill. Thus, a Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 built by Reiter Engineering with the melodious V10 atmo of 520 horses was sold for 61 euros.

And the French women in all this? L'Alpine A110 winner of Rally from Portugal 1973 with Jean-Luc Thérier in its factory 1800 Group 4 configuration was sold for 369 euros. You probably recognize it, because it was used by its previous owner Didier Calmels in the Carpooling to be found in issue 2201 of AUTOhebdo

Well known to rally fans for her “not easy” physique, a Citroën BX 4 TC was sold for 58 euros. This car was created with the aim of homologating the BX of Group B in 1986 and developed 200 horsepower taken from a Garrett turbo engine. Initially released in a series of 86 examples, this BX is one of 40 surviving today. We hope that the buyer will experience more success at the wheel than the Group B version (a sixth place in Sweden, and that's it).

At more reasonable prices, a 1972 Ford Capri was sold for 45 euros.

Finally, a Porsche left for only 15 euros. But at that price, you don't have a 500, but a 218 horsepower Type 25 Diesel tractor!
