Lexus will offer a Track Edition to its 2020 RC F

Winner of the Paul Ricard 1000 km last June, the RC F GT3 was rather lively for its first full campaign in the SRO Motorsports fold. At the same time, the brand will evolve its civilian version by 2020, with entry into production of the new iteration scheduled for the second half of 2019.

But what we must remember for this future version is the arrival of a Track Edition. Guaranteed development in conjunction with the teams entering the car in IMSA in the United States, and in Super GT in Japan and which will offer specificities, particularly in terms of aerodynamics.

The front shield will be made of carbon fiber, while the active rear spoiler of the base version will be replaced by a fixed carbon fiber wing, which will reduce drag and provide improved downforce.

The hunt for excess kilos has been one of the leitmotifs of Lexus engineers, with the RCF Track Edition displaying a weight loss of 80 kg. The use of carbon fiber on the roof and engine cover, aluminum on the suspension supports, as well as titanium for the exhaust and silencer, also contribute to this reduction in total mass.

On the mechanical side, the Lexus RC F Track Edition will receive the same engine as the “normal” RC F, namely the 8-liter V5,0 whose power will be increased to 472 hp. An eight-speed automatic gearbox will send power to the rear wheels only.
