Maserati has decided to pay tribute to Sir Stirling Moss, died April 12 last at the age of 90. The Italian manufacturer dedicated a prototype of the MC20 in his memory, 64 years to the day after his victory at the 1956 Monaco Grand Prix with the legendary Maserati 250F.
The MC20 supercar, whose development continues on the sly, will be able to carry several engines (petrol, hybrid and electric), built in the Modena factory. The Trident brand plans a competitive commitment with this car, but we do not yet know under what sporting regulations.
The MC20 dedicated to the “Uncrowned Champion” also recalls the Eldorado, a massive car used by the Briton at Monza during the Race of the Two Worlds (Trofeo dei due Mondi) in 1958.
This event aimed to bring together the participants of the Indianapolis 500 and the leaders of the Formula 1 on the transalpine oval. Sir Stirling Moss was the fastest European competitor in the event, until his steering gave way at 250 km/h! An accident that the Englishman will describe as “the scariest outing of my career”.
