McLaren unveils 720S celebrating 25 years of Le Mans victory

On June 18, 1995, Yannick Dalmas, JJ Lehto and Masanori Sekiya offered McLaren overall victory 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the mythical F1 GTR n°59 from the British manufacturer, entered under the Kokusai Kaihatsu Racing banner.

25 years later, Woking will celebrate this success, placing the firm among the winners in F1, at Le Mans and at Indianapolis, by launching a limited series of its 720S, named Le Mans for the occasion.

No changes are to be expected on the mechanical level, since the 8 hp 4-liter twin-turbo V720 is logically renewed, but it is on the exterior appearance and inside of the car that the 720S Mans differs from its more “classic” sisters.

Two body colors, McLaren Orange and Sarthe Grey, will be available, with front and rear splitters and rocker panels sporting Ueno Grey. The roof air intake and bodywork elements will be painted glossy black to enhance the contrasts.

The brake calipers will wear a golden hue and the five-spoke rims will be reminiscent of those of the victorious F1 GTR.

A McLaren 25 anniversary Le Mans logo will be placed on the side of the car just ahead of the rear wheels. Note that all chassis numbers will start with 298, the number of laps of the winning car in Sarthe in 1995.

The interior will see the seats embroidered with a McLaren 25 anniversary Le Mans logo, and the installation of a plaque with an identical inscription.

The car will be produced in 50 units, including 16 reserved for Europe. All at a price exceeding €283.
