Mercedes increases its stake in Aston Martin

The connection between Mercedes et Aston Martin officially reached a new milestone, this Wednesday, October 28. The German manufacturer has announced its intention to acquire a 20% stake in its British counterpart in the next three years, whereas it has only held 2,6% since 2018.

With this reinforcement, Aston Martin will benefit from new engine technologies (thermal, electric) and mechanical. This was already the source of the cooperation initiated in 2013, at the time when the Gaydon brand asked to use the original AMG V8 blocks in the Vantage and other DB11s.

This rapprochement is made while Lawrence Stroll becomes the main shareholder of Aston Martin in January 2020 and that his son, Lance stroll, will drive for Aston Martin (formerly Racing Point) next season in Formula 1. This team will be supplied with an engine by Mercedes.
