Tobias Moers replaces Andy Palmer at the helm of Aston Martin

As expected after the Financial Times revelations, Andy Palmer has stepped down as president and executive director ofAston Martin Lagonda. The manager of the English brand will be replaced by Tobias Moers, arrived from AMG, performance branch of Mercedes, who will take office on August 1.

The interim will be ensured by Keith Stanton, current manager of production operations, who becomes interim manager of operations under the direction of Lawrence Stroll, executive chairman of Aston Martin since its recent participation.

If under the direction of Andy Palmer, Aston Martin was able to diversify its range, with the launch of the DBX SUV, the British firm remained financially fragile before the arrival of Lawrence Stroll's investments.

On a sporting level, in addition to the GTE Pro component still led by Prodrive, it is above all the launch of a Hypercar program for the WEC and the 24 Hours of Le Mans which had caught the attention of Gaydon. But an adventure prematurely interrupted.

La F1 will, however, be at the heart of the firm's competitive commitment in 2021, since under the leadership of Lawrence Stroll, Aston Martin Racing will replace Racing Point F1 on the starting grid.

On the AMG side, Tobias Moers will be replaced by Philipp Scheimer, current head of Mercedes-Benz Brazil. Another change within the German company, Jochen Hermann, former head of AMG development, returns to the entity as technical manager after having held the position of head of e-drive development at Daimler in recent years.
