A DBS 59 to celebrate Aston Martin's victory at Le Mans in 1959

While rumors about a possible return ofAston Martin in the queen category of 24 Hours of Le Mans are becoming more and more pressing, via the new 2020 technical regulations, the Gaydon brand will take a nice leap into the past with the announcement of its DBS 59.

Based on the DBS Superleggera (displaying 725 hp), the DBS 59, produced in only 24 units, will pay homage to the DBR1 which won the double clock tower at Sarthe in 1959, with the tandem Roy Salvadori – Caroll Shelby. The English firm had also signed the double for what still remains today its only overall victory at Le Mans.

The DBS 59 will offer a green “Aston Martin Racing” livery with a lacquered roof, and Bronze inserts distributed all around the car, including the rear Aston Martin lettering. Leather remains king in the cabin with Obsidian Black and Chesnut Tan colored seats.

The seat backs and the interior of the doors will also be covered in a material inspired by that present in the DBR1. Specific compartments for DBS 59 helmets, gloves and racing suits have been fitted out.
