Nasser Al-Attiyah and Mathieu Baumel (Toyota) sont aussi malins que rapides. Crédités du meilleur temps lors de la spéciale qualificative du Rally of Morocco 2021, the representatives of Toyota Gazoo Racing were able to choose their starting position on the first stage this Saturday, October 8 around Zagora.

The Qatari and the Frenchman started in 10th place, and they had a hard time: they finished the day again with the best performance! “It wasn't easy, the stage was windy and dusty, explains the pilot. But we were able to drive our Hilux without encountering the slightest problem or puncture. Mathieu did a great job. The dunes that were on our path were soft because no one had passed them for two or three years. »

Behind, the Saudi Yazeed Al-Rajhi and the Briton Michael Orr place their Toyota Hilux in second row, ahead of another Japanese 4×4, that of the French Ronan Chabot and Gilles Pillot. Their compatriot Mathieu Serradori and Loïc Minaudier could claim a good mark (2nd until an engine failure at km 180) but will have to leave without any claim to the general classification on Sunday.

In the light vehicle category (T3), the Spanish-French duo composed of Cristina Gutiérrez and François Cazalet take the lead for the return of the driver of the Red Bull Off-Road Junior Team, four months after a nasty injury on the sidelines of the Kazakhstan Rally.
