For their return together in a 4x4 cabin, Guerlain Chicherit and Mathieu Baumel are the first leaders of the Rally-Raid Portugal, a new W2RC event in 2024.

Ranking Stage 1 & General Rally-Raid Portugal 2024:

  • The first stage of the Rally-Raid Portugal 2024, third round of the World Rally Raid Championship (W2RC) took place on muddy terrain this Wednesday April 3. After more than an hour of effort, victory went to Guerlain Chicherit (Toyota Overdrive) navigated by Mathieu Baumel. The latter replaces Alex Winocq for this race, injured after a bad landing from a dune at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge in February.
  • The outgoing world vice-champion Yazeed Al-Rajhi (Toyota Overdrive) ranks 2nd ahead of the official Toyota Gazoo Racing driver, Lucas Moraes.
  • The winner of the 2024 Dakar with Audi, Carlos Sainz, is present with a Mini JCW T1+ from the German team X-Raid to defend its leading position in the W2RC. “El Matador” recorded the 5th time, ahead of his pursuer Nasser Al-Attiyah (Prodrive).
  • Entered in Challenger on a Taurus in order to keep control of the rally-raid level while waiting for the first tests of his Dacia Sandrider T1+ in the spring, Sébastien Loeb and Fabian Lurquin set the 4th time less than 2 minutes behind the winner, the local Joao Dias (Can-Am).
  • The second stage will take place over 166 km of timed sector around Grândola in the south of Portugal.
