General classification Rally-Raid Portugal 2024:

  • The abandonment suffered at the Dakar last January has been forgotten. Already victorious at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge at the end of February, Nasser Al-Attiyah and his new navigator Édouard Boulanger (Prodrive) did it again during the new Rally-Raid Portugal, third round of the World Championship of rally-raid (W2RC), this Sunday April 7.
  • The Qatari driver, who took control of the competition from the 2nd stage, dominated the debates and became leader of the W2RC thanks to this success.
  • « I felt at home, because I have many friends here, said Nasser Al-Attiyah. It was a magnificent rally, I hope it will return to the W2RC program next year because we are not used to seeing so many spectators on the sidelines of the special stages! The course was very technical and difficult to negotiate, with many way-points to validate. Fortunately, Édouard did a perfect job and I must also thank Prodrive. »
  • Engaged in Challenger with a Taurus, Sébastien Loeb and Fabian Lurquin ranked 11th after suffering numerous mechanical problems. But the main thing was elsewhere. “Have a good last day for Seb and me, even if the terrain didn't really suit our T3 Max, commented the Belgian co-pilot. Overall, the primary goal has been achieved: to discover this rally for next year and spend time racing together to further refine our automatisms. It's already not that bad. »
  • The local Joao Ferreira (Mini) finished 2nd ahead of the official driver Toyota Gazoo Racing, Lucas Moraes.
  • The next round of the W2RC is scheduled for Argentina with the Desafio Ruta 40 (June 1-7).
