The last step of Rally of Andalusia 2022 contested this Sunday, October 23 was fierce between the two major representatives of the World Rally Raid Championship (W2RC). But between Sébastien Loeb (Bahrain Raid Xtreme) et Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota), c’est bien le Qatari qui a eu le dernier mot… même si la victoire sur cette finale de la saison est revenue au Français.

The nine-time world rally champion preserved a slim advantage of six seconds over Nasser Al-Attiyah. The latter, associated with French co-driver Mathieu Baumel, did not need to finish in front of the spearhead of the BRX clan in any case to secure the world crown, the very first time put into play by the FIA and Amaury Sport Organization (ASO). With this Andalusian second place, the winners of the Dakar 2022 become the first world rally-raid champions.

For Sébastien Loeb and Fabian Lurquin, consolation took the form of a rally victory, which had never happened to them before. They finished vice-world champions W2RC.
