The second stage of the Baja Aragon 2021 promised to be decisive in the duel between Sébastien Loeb (Prodrive) et Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota). The Frenchman and the Qatari were only separated by a second before returning to battle in the meadows around Teruel this Saturday July 24.
The leader, associated for the first time with the Belgian Fabian Lurquin, had the task of opening the track without conceding too much ground on his rival. The mission was almost complete during the morning SS2, with a couple of minutes lost despite a puncture.
After the lunch break, the BRX Hunter T1 set off again in the oppressive heat. The Alsatian even virtually took the lead again with a two-minute margin over the Toyota Hilux 4×4 at the second intermediate point!
Unfortunately, new problems would hit the Franco-Belgian crew in the final stages of the event. Nasser Al-Attiyah and his French navigator Mathieu Baumel weren't asking for that much and definitely regained the advantage to claim a fourth Baja Aragon to their eloquent record.

Wise as a picture, Mattias Ekström (Mini 4×4) showed great consistency and signed his best performance in rally-raid with the second rank. Despite further punctures, Yazeed Al-Rajhi (Toyota) completes the podium, while Sébastien Loeb falls to seventh place overall.
