As part of its preparation for the 2022 Dakar, Bahrain Raid Xtreme (BRX) was scheduled to take part in the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge this weekend, organized since 1991 by the candidate for the presidency of the FIA, Mohammed Ben Sulayem. But due to a serious accident that occurred this Monday during their testing program, the team, entered with two Hunter T1+ entrusted to Sébastien Loeb and Nani Roma, withdraws from the competition by mutual agreement. In question, a mechanic is in hospital in a worrying state, following a refueling.

“One of the technicians on the team suffered serious burns, details the team in a press release published this morning. He was immediately treated by the team's paramedics and transported to a local hospital by the on-site ambulance. He was then transferred to a specialist burns unit in Dubai where he is being treated. »

“It is clear that all of the team's thoughts and attention are now focused on the well-being of our injured teammate and his family. After discussion with the entire team, including the drivers, we decided that it was not appropriate to participate in this weekend's event. »

“We are currently carrying out a thorough investigation into the incident and are cooperating with local police and firefighters, who quickly attended the scene. The team will resume its testing and development program later this month, with the goal of successful participation in the Rally Dakar in January. »

As a reminder, BRX, with Sebastien Loeb and Nani Roma as representatives, is preparing for the 2022 Dakar, organized from January 2 to 14 in Saudi Arabia.
