Author of the best time the day before, Sébastien Loeb was responsible for opening the track this Wednesday. But a difficulty not indicated in the road book electrically updated the very morning of the stage surprised him. The 4×4 built by Prodrive fell into a groove and overturned, causing a collarbone injury for navigator Fabian Lurquin.

Sébastien Loeb explains the circumstances of the accident. “We were driving along this dry river, parallel to it, when there was a jump. Everything was going well, but where we were going to land, the direction of the dry river changed course, meaning we were going to land in it.

I did everything I could to avoid it, but there was no other choice and we landed in the ditch on the right, and landed hard in the drop on the right side of the car. Even when I got out to slow down the other cars, they almost had the same accident as us...

It's a tough day for us at BRX, but I hope Fabian can recover quickly and return to my side. will soon be able to get back into shape and return to my side in the car when he is ready. »

Sébastien Loeb and Fabian Lurquin are not pressed for time. Indeed, the next round of the W2RC, the Desafio Ruta 40 in Argentina, is scheduled from August 26 to September 1, which leaves nearly four months for Fabian Lurquin to get back on his feet.
