In front of his audience in Sweden, Mattias Ekström became the champion of Champions. The Audi driver in Rally-Raid won his 4th Race of Champions trophy after those of 2006, 2007 and 2009. The Swede did not lose a single duel and won in the final against Mick Schumacher. He thus succeeds Sébastien Loeb and becomes joint record holder for the number of victories in the tournament, tied with Loeb and Auriol.

Imperial at home, Mattias Ekström was never worried, successively beating Travis Pastrana in the round of XNUMX, Johan Kristoffersson in the quarter-final, Thierry Neuville in the semi-final and Mick Schumacher in the final. The champion of DTM and WRX had a big scare in the final, when flames appeared on his car during the second round... but the Swede kept his cool to win against the 3rd driver Mercedes en F1. A glimpse of history: Ekström won two of his first three trophies against Michael Schumacher, in 2007 and 2009.

On the French side, our two Tricolores were eliminated in the round of 2022. Adrien Tambay failed against finalist Mick Schumacher while Sébastien Loeb, winner in XNUMX, narrowly lost his duel against Thierry Neuville.
