For a second consecutive year, Le Mans Classic will be held from June 29 to July 2, 2023 on the legendary 24 Hours circuit, to celebrate the centenary of the most emblematic endurance race in the world.

The models selected in these 6 fields are those which took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 1923 and 1981. The selection committee naturally gives absolute priority to the cars which themselves ran the event.

LIST OF ENTRIES LE MANS CLASSIC 2023

Here are 3 essential models from this 11th edition:

Ferrari 750 Monza – Plateau 2 (1949/1956)

This is a rare example of the Ferrari 750 Monza that raced in the United States in 1955 in the hands of Phil Hill, Jim Hall and Carroll Shelby. During its career, this Ferrari took part in numerous races including the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1955. Its bodywork was designed by Scaglietti according to a design by Dino Ferrari.

Once its sporting career ended, the car was stored for almost four decades. In 1990, Jim Hall decided to have it restored and repainted in blue and white, as when it left the factory. To this day, the Ferrari will participate and be rewarded in prestigious competitions of elegance. Good news ! It will return to competition and that of this new edition of the Le Mans Classic, thanks to its new owner Patrick Ottis who, with his son Tazio, will take the wheel.

Maserati Tipo 61 “Birdcage“ – Tray 3 (1957/1961)

Few sports cars from the 1960s have achieved such legendary status as this Maserati Tipo 61 “Birdcage”. It competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1960 and was specially fitted with a "long tail", a body modification intended to improve aerodynamics and top speed on long straights.

This Tipo 61 offers discerning collectors and vintage racing enthusiasts the opportunity to experience what Carroll Shelby once called "the best fast cornering car" he ever drove.

Porsche 908 LH – Plate 5 (1966/1971)

This Porsche 908 LH (“Lang Heck” in German, “long tail” in French) was one of the 5 cars built in January 1969 for the 24 Hours of Daytona. Driven on this occasion by Vic Elford, teamed with Brian Redman, the car qualified in 1st position. A lap record was even set there, the 908 LH having beaten the best Lola T70s in the competition.

It is therefore this same Porsche that Brian Redman will meet again at the 2023 Le Mans Classic, 54 years after their first meeting! Another notable fact: driven by Gérard Larrousse and Helmut Marko during the 1970 season, this Porsche 908 finished third in the general classification of the 24 Hours of Le Mans that same year.

The lists of entrants for the support races (Group C, Endurance Racing Legends, Porsche Classic Race Le Mans and Benjafield's Bentley Race Le Mans) will be communicated at a later date.
