The Artcurial Motorcars house hits hard at the show Rétromobile 2023. On February 3, the annual auction on the sidelines of the classic car show at Paris Expo will offer a rare Ferrari 250LM. This vehicle is even, according to Artcurial, “more rare and exclusive than a 250 GTO”, that is to say !
The beautiful Italian bears chassis number 5901, and is the 10th of 32 examples leaving the Maranello factory. Chassis 5901 was entered by the NART as a reserve car for the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1966. This Ferrari is one of two 250 LMs to have never suffered the horrors of competition, which allowed it to retain the all of its original elements (chassis, engine, gearbox, bodywork).
After spending its life in the hands of great American collectors, including Massimo Ferragamo, it crossed the Atlantic to join a European collection in 1997. It then benefited from a restoration respecting its originality in the workshops of the famous English specialist DK Engineering. Remained in the possession of the same French owner for 20 years, this work of art will be exhibited from February 1 at the Salon Rétromobile, prior to the sales on February 3, 4 and 5.
