24 Hours of Le Mans – How is the Centenary entry list made up?

It is undoubtedly the edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans the most anticipated of these. It is that of the Centenary and especially that of the reunion with a very strong field in the premier category in which we find Porsche, Cadillac, Peugeot , Toyota or even Ferrari !

On June 10, no less than 62 cars will take the start between Hypercars, LMP2 and GTE. But how does the process take place? Selection committee to fill the entry list for the Centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans?

Of the 62 entered, 38 come directly from the world championship ofEndurance FIA WEC. Taking part in the entire season, they are automatically invited for the double clock tour in Sarthe. There are then 10 invitations awarded to competitors from the following 3 championships: European Le Mans Series, Michelin Le Mans Cup and Asian Le Mans Series. These are distributed on the basis of their sporting results.

Also note that the Automobile Club de l'Ouest is offering 3 entry tickets to the North American Endurance Championship IMSA. This is why the Action Express Racing, Wright Motorsports and Tower Motorsports teams are respectively expected in Hypercar, LMP2 and LMGTE Am this year. There is also an invitation to Garage 56, always reserved for “an innovative car”. In 2023, it will be the Chevrolet Camaro of the NASCAR which will run at Le Mans. Finally, the last 10 participants will be chosen by the Selection Committee according to “the quality of the sports project”.

Which teams already have their invitation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans?

For the moment, 13 teams have already received their invitation for the Centenary edition on June 10 and 11.

• Prema Racing: champion team ELMS 2022 (invitations to submit in the LMP2 category)
• Panis Racing: 2022 ELMS vice-champion team (invitations to be submitted in the LMP2 category)
• Cool Racing: 2022 ELMS champion team in LMP3 (invitation to compete in LMP2 category)
• Proton Competition: 2022 ELMS champion team in LMGTE (invitation to submit in LMGTE Am category)
• Kessel Racing: 2022 ELMS vice-champion team in LMGTE (invitation to assert in LMGTE Am)
• Iron Lynx: third ELMS 2022 team in LMGTE (invitations to submit in LMGTE Am category)
• GMB Motorsport: 2022 Michelin Le Mans Cup champion team (invitation to compete in the LMGTE Am category)
• Action Express Racing: team in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship 2022 (invitation to submit in Hypercar category)
• Wright Motorsports (invitation to assert in LMP2 category)
• Tower Motorsports (invitation to compete in LMGTE Am category)
• DKR Engineering: champion team in the LMP2 category of the 2023 Asian Le Mans Series
• Graff Racing: champion team in the LMP3 category of the 2023 Asian Le Mans Series
• Walkenhorst Motorsport: champion team in the GT category of the 2023 Asian Le Mans Series

The entry list for the 24 2023 Hours of Le Mans will be published this Monday, February 27 at 17 p.m.
