  • After dominating qualifying the day before, Ferrari did it again during the Hyperpole this Thursday by securing the first row of the Centenary edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans.
  • Furthermore, we don't change a winning team since it was once again Antonio Fuoco who offered first place to Ferrari, synonymous with a first pole position for the Italian manufacturer in the Sarthe since 1973, its last participation official. At the time, Arturo Merzario drove a time of 3'37"500 at the wheel of the 312 P/B.
  • Fifty years later, Antonio Fuoco (Ferrari 499P No. 50) went almost 15 seconds faster than his Italian friend, completing his best run in 3'22, despite a problem at the end of the second sector. On the line, he beat the sister car (No. 982) driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi by a little over 51 tenths.
  • Note that this is the record of the Hypercar era beating the mark established by Kamui Kobayashi (Toyota GR010 N°7) in 3'23"900.
  • Difficult day for Toyota, far from counting against the machines of the Prancing Horse. The Japanese GR010s were never able to worry the 499Ps who were decidedly alone on the Le Mans route this Thursday. The Japanese machines could not do better than 3e and 5e with the N°7 in front of the N°8 but at 1“4 and 1“5 respectively. It's Felipe Nasr on the Porsche 963 No. 75 which was inserted between the two GR010.
  • Bitter hyperpole for Sébastien's Cadillac V-Series.RN°3 Bourdais. Not necessarily expected in the Top 4, the Habs managed to place their machine in 3e place but an engine failure (fire) forced him to stop in the Hunaudières a little more than 5 minutes from the checkerboard. Additionally, he lost his best time for causing a red flag, as stipulated in the regulations. He went back until the 8the rank.

  • In LM P2, IDEC Sport created a sensation by beating the big favorites like Team WRT, JOTA and Prema. At the wheel of the No. 07 Oreca 48 in the colors of Delage, Paul-Loup Chatin offered pole position in 3'32"923 to the French team. This is not a first since she won it in 2018, from the hands of the Parisian already.
  • No miracle for Prema. The Italian team leaves with the 5th and 7th times conceding 1 second and 1 to IDEC Sport.

  • In GTE Am, the hierarchy was respected with Corvette in pole position. The American mount which dominated the start of the season with two victories (Sebring and Portimão) finished 1 ahead of its closest pursuer, theAston Martin Vantage AMR N°25 from the ORT By TF team.
