A quarter of an hour is enough to cause many errors among the competitors of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2022. The 15-minute warm-up contested this Saturday, June 11 between 10:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. was punctuated by several off-piste escapades in this legendary event of the WEC.

Equipped with tires that were still cold, Franck Mailleux narrowly missed sending his Glickenhaus into the wall at the exit of the Mulsanne bend. A few moments later, GTE Pro pole sitter Nick Tandy (Corvette) returned to his pits following an abnormally slow lap.

On the side of the Indianapolis corner, Nico Müller (Oreca) was surprised by late braking. And got stuck in the gravel. Despite an open driver's door, Alex Brundle (Oreca) achieved the third best time overall for Inter Europol Competition.

Among all these adventures, Mike conway (Toyota) a pu enregistrer le meilleur tour en 3’31’’236. Le Britannique devance non pas une Hypercar, mais la LM P2 de René Rast (Oreca, Team WRT) qui s’élancera en pole position de cette catégorie.

For his first laps of the week replacing Philippe Cimadomo, banned from racing by the stewards for dangerous driving in practice, Nyck de Vries (Oreca du TDS x Vaillante) climbs to fourth place just behind the Toyota hybrid of Sébastien Buemi.

Finally, the GTE Am is led by the experienced Toni Vilander (Ferrari), ahead of the class pole-sitter, Vincent Abril (Ferrari). From now on, the teams will fully concentrate on the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which will start at 16 p.m. later today.
